Apple had a great Q4 2014 as it sold a whopping 74.5 million smartphones during the period. But is the Q4 good enough to take the company to become the leading vendor in the industry is question yet to be answered. Well it definitely depends on the overall market share which is still stringently held by Samsung up till now. The good news is Samsung is losing market share and specifically it came into close tie with Apple in Q4 as acknowledged by IDC. However, another research Counterpoint claimed that actually Apple topped the game by shipping more smartphones than Samsung in Q4. The Counterpoint research reports Apple at the top of game with 20.2% market share followed by Samsung with 20% market share. Rest Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi rounded up the top five with 7, 6.6, and 4.6% market share, respectively.
