Apple iOS has the privilege of holding maximum profit share of smartphone industry

It will surely be a great pleasure for Apple to announce its operating profits for Q4, 2014. Just like the year 2013, the company has captured record profit of 88.7% for quarter 4 2014. For the same quarter of 2013 it holds 70.5% profits which are still the highest in the smartphone industry. As far as Android is concerned, it experienced decline in profits from 29.5% in Q4 of year 2013 to 11.3% record-low profit share in the same Quarter of 2014.

In terms of dollar, the profit share for Apple is $18.8billion (Q4 2014) up from $11.4 billion (Q4 2013). Android has operating profits $ 2.4 billion going down from the same quarter of previous year which are $4.8 billion. “Apple’s strategy of premium products and lean logistics is proving hugely profitable,” the research firm said, adding that “Android’s weak profitability for its hardware partners will worry Google. “In Total, the operating profits of whole smartphone industry are $21.2 billion in Q4 2014 up 31% from $16.2 billion in Q4 2013.
