PTA has banned buying and selling of Xiaomi Phones. As per Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The Chinese Smartphone maker is banned in the country after violating some laws and rules.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Spokesman Khurram Mehran confirmed the news of Ban and commented:

PTA restricts Buying and Selling of Xiaomi Phones.

“They are not following the country’s rules and laws. All phone sets have to be type-approved by the PTA and Xiaomi has not received type-approval yet”.

However, Xioami is giving an entirely different approach to this restriction and said:

“The PTA has demanded that XiaomiPK.com has to stop the sale/marketing of all Mi mobile devices… We want our customers and people around the country to understand the monopoly of some brands in the market,” not clarifying which monopoly it was referring to.

“We believe that the Pakistani market deserves to have fair competition but these events make us ponder that some competitors believe in grabbing the market through influence instead of competing on the basis of quality and service.”

With these contradicting statement it is difficult to judge what could be the reason. However, IT experts have allegedly said that Xiaomi is stealing info from user data and sending to its Chinese servers.

PTA, however, does have a reason of taking this action and soon we will learn why.
