This is first time after bio-metric re-verification of SIMs started this year, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has finally released the statistics for number of mobile phone users in the country. According to the reports of PTA, the mobile phone users in Pakistan dropped down to 114.7 million.

Cell Phone users in Pakistan get squeezed to 114 Million

All mobile phone operators in total lost 22 million subscribers with Mobilinkleading the market with its 33.42 million subscribers. Telenor managed to retain 31.49 million subscribers while Zongis third among the top positions with 22.10 million mobile phone users.

Ufonehad a huge shrink and is now at 17.80 million customers while Waridis the lowest with 9.91 million subscribers at the end of June 2015.

There are rumors that PTA and Interior Ministry will soon employ an audit firm to cross check cellular companies’ data. The prime objective is to make sure that all un-verified SIMs are blocked and not counted as active SIMs.
