Xiaomi opens online store in US but not to sell phones

The reason of recent visit to San Francisco has now come to light but it is definably a turn down for die hard lovers of Xiaomi. Xiaomi previously aiming to enter Indian markets suddenly announced the trip to US. A lot has been anticipated from this trip but the outcome doesn’t turn out to as likely as expected. The World to be Third Larges Vendor is planning to open an online store but currently not for phones and tablets.

Instead it will offer range of accessories including headphones, fitness bands, power banks, and more. The reason for not selling phones and tablets is the localization of MIUI ROM. Also, hardware certification, software testing, infrastructure, as well as other logistical challenges, all of which contribute to keep Mi handsets and tablets out of the hands of American consumers, for now at least. Potentially, this is a good move, because firstly, the US market buyer always likes to purchase from carrier and not from manufacturer online store. Secondly, Xiaomi wants to get it step by step. First introducing simpler products to build Brand Awareness then take bigger steps.

The US won’t be the only western market in the list. Soon you will be seeing other countries too.
