According to latest report by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the total number of mobile phone users by the end of July 2017 has reached 140.5 million, which is expected to rise by 160 million by the end of this year.

The fast growth of smartphone usage in the country has also led the telecommunication companies such as Mobilink and Ufone to offer best possible 3G and 4G internet services to customers.

Exactly one year ago from today, the total number of mobile phone users in Pakistan were 133.2 million, and there has been an increase of 7.3 million users in a year’s time.

When it comes to market share possessed by cellular companies in terms of number of subscribers to their services, we see that Mobilink is leading with 53 million customers. Telenor is second with 41 million, whereas Zong has 28.2 million and Ufone has 18.5 million customers till the date.

The increasing usage of mobile phone usage is not only a blessing for smartphone and telecom companies, but also a responsibility for regulatory authority PTA to prevent negative usage of mobile phones.
