Next year more smartphones will adopt OLED panels. These panels are much better than TFT-LCDs. Supervisory declared that in 2018, 58% of samrtphones display will be OLED. In 2014, 27% of screens were amounted by OLED panels while the others were usual LCDs. For the past few years, OLED display production has been going up. In this year 2017, OLED panels are projected to surpass 40% of market share.

According to sources, Apple placed an order of 70 million OLEDs for iPhones. Google also concerns regarding OLED panels for its Pixel smartphone and have discussions with LG display for partnership. Chinese smartphone brands include Vivo, OPPO, Lenovo and Huawei are estimated to slot in OLED technology into their upcoming devices. Demands are ascending hence LG Display has recently taken the decision to expand OLED panel production for smartphones and tablets.
