As Apple is plunging into the world of OLED displays, the tech giant will not be short of suppliers. According to latest reports, after Samsung, now LG is on its way to producing the high-end displays for Apple.LG is investing a $3.56 billion into one of its factories in order to make OLED smartphone screens, hoping to become a supplier for Apple next to Samsung.

The investment is likely to shift focus from producing OLED panels for TVs to producing ones meant for smartphones, which shows an increase in demand for OLED displays.

In addition, it may also imply that Apple aims to emerge as a primary customer for the display technology for the future. Though Apple is still to conform that the iPhone 8 will pack OLED display, continuous rumors suggest that the firm is ditching flat LCD screens and opting for a curved OLED display like the one used on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
