World’s first “stretchable” OLED display.

Display Week, California is one of the hottest tech events where a number of prominent panel manufacturers will showcase their new inventions. Among all the rest, Samsung’s display division willexcite you the most for sure considering it is to unveil the world’s first “stretchable” OLED display at the event. According to reports, it is “the most advanced flexible display” ever.

The particular panel showcased at Display Week features a diagonal of 9.1 inches. It can bend up to 12mm in both directions, retaining a high resolution at the same time. While it may not appear to be a notable “bend”, we have to bear in mind that this tech is still very young and will be perfected in the future for sure. At the moment, it is too early to tell if we will really get to view a smartphone having such a screen.

According to a Samsung Display representative:

“While current flexible OLED is able to be transformed in only one side, this stretchable OLED can be transformed — whether curved, bended or rolled — in both sides, above and below.”
