How to root Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime

As we have already discussed in our previous articles regarding rooting that Android gives the ability to customize Android in your own way.  Today we would be explaining the rooting method for Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.

Some rooting methods require a PC and some does not.  The method which does not require a PC is called one click rooting. We will use method using a PC.

How to root Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime

Note: Rooting your Samsung smartphone will void its manufacturer’s warranty and you may damage or brick your device. In case of any damage mobile phone collection will not to be held responsible and you may proceed at your own risk.

Process:

 

 

  1. Back-Up

You must back up your data in case you damaged your phone

Backup by the following methods

 

  • Transfer all the data from you mobile to your SD card and remove it.
  • Use your PC to back-up the data.
  • Samsung also has the functionality of using Samsung Kies to back up the data by doing it manually

 

  1. Download USB drivers for PC

Download the drivers on your PC and install them in order to successfully connect your smartphone with your PC (which we would be doing in later stages). You can do so by

  • Download Samsung USB Drivers (http://www.devfiles.co/download/AbRa7wHc/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe)
  • Download Samsung KIES(http://www.samsung.com/in/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/) (KIES bundles drivers as well)

 

  1. Enable USB debugging mode on your Grand Prime

Too enable the USB debugging mode follow these steps.

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down and find ‘Developer Options’. Tap there
  • Enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking option

If you do not see the Developer Options, follow these steps to make it visible by following these steps.

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down till you see “About Device”. Tap there
  • Tap on Build Number for 5-7 times to make the Developer Options visible
  • Now follow the aforementioned steps to enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking

 

  1. Download the root package for your smartphone

The root packages are different for different variants. In Pakistan, the model mostly used is SM-G530H. You can follow these quick and easy steps to check your model.

  • Go to Settings on your smartphone.
  • Scroll down till you see “About Device” or “About Phone” and tap there.
  • Note down the model number.

Once you are sure of the model number then you can download the root package

  • Download the firmware file from here.(https://androiddatahost.com/997a2)
  • Save it on your PC without extracting.

After downloading the firmware, you would need to download Odin

  • Download the Odin3(http://www.mediafire.com/file/v26m0vfo1rb9xi6/Odin3_v3.10.6.zip)
  • Save it on your PC and extract it.

 

 

  1. Open your smartphone in Fastboot mode

You can boot your smartphone into the Fastboot mode by these steps.

  • Make sure that your smartphone is not connected to any PC.
  • Switch off your smartphone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power Button simultaneously.
  • Read the warning and, agreeing, confirm by pressing the Volume Up key.

Once your device boots into the download mode you can connect it to your computer using the original USB data cable.

 

  1. Process on your PC

After connecting your device please open the folder where you extracted Odin files.

  • Find the Odin3.exe and open it and if you have proper USB drivers of your device in your PC you will see ‘Added’ in Odin dialogue box.
  • Click on ‘PDA’ button and select the .tar file you downloaded earlier.
  • Click on the ‘Start’ button.

After the process you will see a green pass icon and your device will reboot itself. If you want to confirm that your device is rooted or not please check if SuperSU is present in your application drawer. If you see, then it means that your rooting went successfully.
