A part of HTC smartphone division has been acquired by Google under the deal of $1.1 billion. “These future fellow Googlers are amazing folks we’ve already been working with closely on the Pixel smartphone line, and we’re excited to see what we can do together as one team…The deal also includes a non-exclusive license for HTC intellectual property,” said in a blog post by Rick Osterloh, Google’s hardware boss.

Under the deal around 2000 employees of HTC would become part of Google’s team but mind it, most of them already worked on Google Pixel.

However, HTC is planning to employ in research and design for around more than 2000 employees.

The deal shows Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO wants to seek more of an ownership for their flagship Pixel phones. The Google Pixel phone was launched a year ago, a first branded phone from Google.
