Apple’s Upcoming iPhones Might Feature Triple Rear Cameras!

  Adnan Ayub

According to industry specialists, the latest offering from Apple will likely be an iPhone model with three rear cameras, similar to the P20 Pro from Huawei. Apple is attempting to “innovate” its iPhone lineup and reportedly might include three rear cameras in the next iPhone model. Jeff Pu, an analyst at Yuanta Securities, says that Apple most probably will reveal in the future “at least one” iPhone model with three camera lenses on its rear.

Huawei pioneered the trend and was the first company to offer a phone featuring three primary cameras in a smartphone. The P20 Pro was the first smartphone from Huawei to feature this setup and was launched, while other companies were still focused on improving their dual camera technology.

The camera arrangement of P20 Pro consisted of 40MP color, 20MP monochrome, and 8MP telephoto lens, which was capable of 5X Hybrid Zoom and great lowlight photography capabilities.

This bold move by Huawei intrigued the smartphone industry and introduced the idea of having “more and more” lenses on a smartphone, each with its own photography capability, which would then collectively shoot a single photograph.

The dual-camera trend, which started in 2017, quickly became popular to the extent that even Apple added dual rear cameras the iPhone X, with Samsung also catching up and adding the feature to its more recent flagships phones.

Apple’s take on multiple camera lenses

Apple will only be including the triple lens setup in its high-end, expensive models of 2019 and might even reveal two separate variants in the same year.

Another Chinese publication has reported that Apple’s camera version might allow 5X lossless zoom and will also consist of at least one 12MP sensor in the camera array.

Google Sticking With Single Lens Cameras

Meanwhile, Google is currently the only company, which is still sticking to the “conventional” single lens system and has also managed to launch some of the best camera phones ever. Its single lens iteration competes closely with its dual-lens competitors and is the only company in the sector which has not launched a flagship smartphone having more than one camera on the rear.
