An analyst reports that Apple might be introducing a simple naming convention for its phones in the near future. It has been stated that Apple might change the naming pattern of iPhone with a new one for the upcoming cycle. However, the report suggests that this will happen only for the case of the successors of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, while the name of a flagship phone, i.e. X, will be denoted in the same manner.

Making the change in the name of Apple product is not something new to the company, as Apple has been doing so with The New iPad and many other tablets. This has however only created more confusion rather than simplification in the long run.

The report also suggests that Apple is not interested in enhancing the sales of its iPhone product, because it has realized that it cannot grow more into the smartphone market, as it has matured already.
