Tim Cook to meet Indian government for Apple expansion plans.

In India, Apple is looking for two things. First is the local production of iPhones in the region as the contract with Foxconn is near closing. Secondly, the sale of refurbished handset. The reason behind interest is India being the third largest Smartphone market and soon on the verge of becoming the second one in 2017.

Apple has therefore speeded up its efforts to cater this market of the world to increase its dominance in World smartphone market. Very recently Tim Cook has decided to Meet the Indian Government especially Modi to discuss Apple’s plans with India Government. Modi also visited Silicon Valley last year and meet the top-notch executives and discussed Make-In-India initiative. With this India wants the local manufacturing of various foreign products in the country.

The head of Apple will visit several cities and will discuss the expansions plans with the officials there. Cook is also expected to announce opening of new Apple Stores whereby it then need to hire new people and open jobs for the area.

The company has shipped more than 800,000 mobile in India, but it has problems convincing the Indian government to sell refurbished mobile in India.  As India has a price-conscious class, Apple can easily sell its refurbished handsets in the market.
