PTA Stats: Outgoing Cellular Traffic rose to 393.5 Billion minutes during 2014-2015

According to the recent stats given by PTA, Outgoing cellular traffic rose by 393.5 billion minutes during the year 2015 against 345.7 billion minutes during 2014.The standard outgoing minutes by cellular users each month have been increased by 19.2% from 219 minutes from 2013-2014 to 261 minutes in 2014-2015. There has been a more noteworthy expansion between cellular to cellular traffic as operators keep on offering more minutes per rupee due to competition and raise due to OTT services.

The 2015 was the year where maximum messages were exchanged. According to PTA, a total of 393 billion SMS were exchanged among cellular users against 301.7 previous year which is a 30.3% increase overall.

The PTA also said that with the introduction of 3G/4G services a lot of operators have multiplied their efforts for more voice and SMS Bundle as the Mobile data is now enough for many online interactions esp. through WhatsApp and Facebook. With the high-speed mobile data, people can now have better voice and SMS service via OTT channels.

Moreover, the penetration of smartphone in the market which is up till up to 15 to 18% , making a good number of customers to rely on voice and SMS Bundle services. Telecos, meanwhile, continue to give low-priced voice packages to keep their revenue stream intact along with offering personalized package to a society’s section.
