Oppo manufactures its smartphones in China and has expanded its operations to Asia Pacific and North America. It has also launched its operations in Pakistan over a year ago. However, the things appear to be quite different. Oppo, so far is unable to make any mark in the market. Let’s look what went wrong with their strategy here.

First of all this is the age of low to mid-tiers especially in the emerging markets. But what Oppo did right away is to launch high-end brands with high pricing strategy. Later in 2014 Oppo also launched couple of more high-ends in Singapore which were immediately released in Pakistan with same pricing strategy. Something which was simply criticized was price that did not justify the value of the product.

Later on discounts were also offered to offset the damage caused to brand but the company said in an email communication that this was more of an Eid offer that was placed to trigger demand for just once. Oppo failed to make first impression and the subsequent impressions made also did not succeed to give it some space in the market.

Further Oppo failed to interact rightly with its channel partners. QMobile fulfill all the needs of retailers and channel partners that also maximize their benefits but this does not happen in Oppo case which ended up in disgruntled retailers.

Also the management has recently resigned considering the market situation of Pakistan.

As far as Oppo is concerned, it aims high for the Pakistani market. There are certain obstacles which can be overcome. Oppo aims to triple its efforts to take measures to correct the aforementioned strategy lapses.
