The National Assembly has approved the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill 2015 ON Wednesday. The bill will now be sent to the Senate before it is approved by law.

The Cyber Crime Bill is supposed to give a more legal formula for carrying out IT sector’s activities. The bill has been a foundation of setting up a legal boundary for all the IT based problems esp. if it relates to imparting information and incase it can be misused or misinterpreted. Pakistan is seemed as the fastest growing Cyber economy esp. after the introduction of 3G and 4G services.

National Assembly Approves Cyber Security

The Cyber Crime Bill has been criticized by certain segments for giving entrenched rights given to the law enforcement agencies to curb the IT related problems in the society.

It was now forwarded to the NA Standing Committee on IT and Telecommunication to take into account the concerns raised by the opposite parties and stakeholders from the industry. The draft of cybercrime was first cleared in September before finally getting approved from National Assembly.
