Mobile Data Usage in Pakistan Reaches 65 Petabytes Per Month

Cell Phone users in Pakistan used more than 65 petabytes of mobile data during March 2017.Data usage of Pakistani users is increasing since the launch of 3G/4G services in 2014. Now it is 65,167 terabytes during the March 2017. It increased from 29,765 terabytes which was recorded in March 2016.

Dr. Syed Ismail Shah(Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) gave a presentation and released the following data

  • 3G data usage: 43,032 TBs during March 2017
  • 4G data usage: 19,266 TBs during March 2017
  • 2G data usage: 2,869 TBs during March 2017
  • Total Data Usage: 65,167 TBs during March 2017

Let us tell you that the data used on 4G is half of the data if compared to 3G connections. 4G users in Pakistan are 4 million and 3G users are 35 million. 2G data is on the last stages because it’s very old technology and the cell phone companies have extended the 3G and 4G technology to many areas.

Some of the interesting stats about Pakistani mobile users are

  • Average data usage per day: 2,173 TBs per day
  • Average data usage per day: 2,173,000 GBs per day
  • Average data usage per day: 2,173,000,000 MBs per day

Data consumption is increasing day by day due to technology enhancement in smartphone technology and the average data used per user is around 2MB
