There has been lot of speculations in the market for Sony smartphone division soon on sale, but very recently its CEO’s statement has put an end to this rumor. In an interview, he said that the tech giant “will never ever sell or exit from the current mobile business.”

As reported earlier this year, that Sony is open to selling its smartphone business. Kaz Hirai, the industry heavyweight’s CEO, also unleashed that the company might sell off its struggling smartphone unit. Sony’s significantly loss market share 2014 when a huge goodwill write-off related to the company’s purchase of Ericsson’s share in 2012 happened. Furthermore, the sale of its Vaio division added fuel to the speculation that Sony might sell the stumbling smartphone unit.

On the contrary, the CEO ambitiously expressed that Sony Mobile will enhance its performance next year by launching quality products that are packed with tech. Also, the company plans to cut its costs by 30% by the end of next year, as well as decrease its headcount by a fifth. He further pointed out that to fight the current competition, Sony Mobile will focus on delivering superior user experience through gaming, display and better camera quality.
