A new report has been issued by Canalys today about the smartphone market performance in China for the year 2017. This is going to be the first time that decline has been observed in year-on-year sales. Compared to 2016, 4% lesser devices were sold in 2017. Moreover, a total of 459 million smartphones were sold and shipped in China alone in 2017.
Such a decline in the overall annual sales has been due to the fourth quarter period when the shipments declined by about 14% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2016.

A noteworthy fact in this regard is that Huawei has been the top-selling brand in 2017 in China, which shipped about 90 million phones. Oppo, Vivo, Apple and Xiaomi then followed the numbers. Huawei alone shipped about 24 million units in the fourth quarter, where as Oppo sold about 19 million units, and third was Vivo who shipped about 17 million phones in the fourth quarter of 2017. tt
