Google won’t be able to fix the current Android bug

  Uzair Khan

Previously we have discussed a potential bug which would affect approximately 939 million handsets running Android 4.4. The bug residing in Android WebView violates the security of info being surfed or browsed which can be accessed by any app. One of the discussions on Google+ post by the head of Android security, Adrian Ludwig, mentioned why Google is not bothering to remove this bug. While one billion phones are under attack Ludwig states that with 5 million lines of code involved, fixing the problem would require “changes to significant portions of the code and was no longer practical to do safely.” For those users whose mobile phones are affected by the bug Ludwin suggests of downloading FireFox and Chrome browser which are available at Google Play Store. Both have their own content renderer and can be updated through Google Play Store. With the updates, users’ handsets can be protected from existing and forthcoming issues. Firefox will download on phones running Android 2.3 or higher. Chrome can work with handsets powered by Android 4.0 or higher.
