MediaTek has recently announced a new member of high-end chipset family dubbed MediaTek Helio. The new chipset will be a direct competition for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series and Samsung Exynos latest.

The MediaTek X10 chipset series will debut first. The 64-bit chipset will pack and octa-core clocked at 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The newcomer offers assistance to 120Hz display refresh rates. The P-series will also debut but later this year. No specs on either of the products has been revealed till now.

The first smartphone with Helio innards will debut in Q2 this year while latter will come in April so we might not wait for the next big thing to be revealed by chipset.
