After Samsung next company that has planned for in-house flagship chipset is LG, Korean media reports claim. Samsung Exynos has been running very successfully in number of its devices. Previously the Qualcomm’s chipset Snapdragon 810 overheating issues fairly troubled Samsung therefore it abandoned Snapdragon in favor of its own chipset. However, LG dismissed the rumors and developed LGG4 with Snapdragon 810. But still to avoid future controversies on chipset (which might hurt the brand), it aims at developing chipset of its own. LG has legally verified it position for developing a chipset, it is under works and will enter mass production later this year. It is expected to appear in G5, the next alleged Flagship of G series.

The SoC will feature Cortex-A72 cores alongside the more energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores in an octa-core big. LITTLE configuration. ARM announced a new Mali-T880 GPU together with the Cortex-A72.

The company has developed its own chipset once before. The G3 Screen also deployed an in-house NuclunSoC. It was an under-performer, but the company had to start somewhere, and lessons have likely been learned.
