We lately discussed that Qualcomm is planning to redesign Snapdragon 810 for overheating issues which are bothering its biggest purchaser Samsung. The news has spread like a fire and fire has taken one in its flames. The “one” LG is not happy with this development and has been felt to even take a legal action against this stance of Qualcomm. This is because initially both LG and Qualcomm agreed and announced that heating issues has been overstated by stakeholder now giving a diversion means admitting significant issues in Chipset do exist. Previously, 75% of Samsung devices were powered by Snapdragon, losing the customer means losing a great marker share. Sammy is still an undisputed market leader and shifting to an in-house chipset might not mean avoiding overheating issues but also increasing self-reliance and cost-effectiveness.
However, Snapdragon 810 has entered mass production from the last week and with one month remaining in MWC there is a little chance of the redesign.
None of the three companies-Qualcomm, Samsung and LG- has official shared the potential lawsuit publically.
