Recently, the company has partnered with Optiemus Infracom that will launch BlackBerry smartphones in India.

As per sources from BlackBerry, Optiemus will partner to “design, manufacture, sell, promote, and support” BlackBerry-branded smartphones in India and its neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

BlackBerry follows the same business model as Nokia does, where it has partnered with HMD Global to design, manufacture, market, and sell Nokia branded handsets.

Also, Optiemus is the same company that will sell BlackBerry branded DTEK50 and DTEK60 smartphones in India. While initiating this partnership BB stated:

“In addition to supporting the Indian Government’s “Make in India” initiative by creating local manufacturing and job opportunities, our partnership with Optiemus represents an important milestone in our strategy to put ‘the smart in the phone’.”
