As per pervious rumors the Asus ZenFone 3 is likely to launch on May 30. But recently, the CEO has confirmed that the mid-range device will be made official in June. Talking to DigiTimes, a Taiwanese publication, the CEO, Shen said that ZenFone family will now encompass only mid-range offering.

Moreover, previously the ZenFone smartphones used to pack Intel chipset. But as Intel is on the verge of packing it chipset business, the device will soon shift to Snapdragon and MediaTek chipsets. Shen said up to 90% of ZenFone Models will bear Snapdragon while the rest will have MediaTek chipset. Shen also did not reveal rest of the hardware specs of the business.

Shen also reported that the change in Chipset will not hurt the production capacity of the ZenFone 3. Furthermore, Shen also reassured investors that using Qualcomm and MediaTek chips will not affect the gross margin of the company.

The DigiTimes also quotes Shen that the sales for the second quarter are flat when compared to same time previous year. He also noted that the first quarter of 2016 also saw jump in revenue up to 40 percent year-on- year. The sales seems good as the company will soon transit to new models.
