In 2013, Shops reported many games featuring Pakistan as a terrorist state in warfare. Later the shopkeepers and the stores also banned those games and removed them from the stores. The games that got banned were “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” and “Medal of Honor: Warfighter”.

Anti-Pakistani banned Games have topped over 75000 sales in 2 years

The above mentioned games portray and Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and Pakistan as a supporter of terrorist groups in Afghanistan like Al-Qaeda. The All Pakistan CD, DVD, Audio Cassette Traders and Manufacturers Association (APCDACTM) boycotted these games and also removed them from their stores at that time.

However, it seems that the games remain available at stores as almost more than 76000 sales of these two games were reported for both PCs and consoles during two and half year according to an unverified estimate. This is both irresponsible and humiliating by the stores and those gamers who purchased it as they are being insensitive to their country’s sentiments and how it is being portrayed terrorist internationally through entertainment.

On the other hand, storekeepers said that they are unfamiliar with the ban. A renowned entertainment media retailer in Islamabad claimed that both the games were “hot sellers” and that “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” sold more than 5,000 while “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” sold about a 1,000 copies and they were unaware of such a ban.

It is impossible that despite of that all outlets and customers were not aware of the ban though it is reported by local and international media outlets, social media and even the APCDACTM was aware of the ban. Therefore, retailers claiming that they were unaware of the ban is jut nothing but saving faces.
