According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction, it turns out to be correct that Apple will no more be using fingerprint reader in near future. However, this might have been just the half of the prediction, as he has now provided another forecast for next year that by 2018 Apple will totally remove the fingerprint reader from all its phones and will instead place the facial recognition feature called FaceID in new versions.

This would mean that from next year, Apple will totally be reliant on the latest Kinect-like FaceID and TrueDepth camera system. However, this camera will do more than just the face authentication, as it will also enable the activation of animojis as well as the future technology that will be based on a system just like that of the demo by Snapchat.

The discussions are however still underway inside Apple whether the FaceID should complete replace the fingerprint reader, or the latter should stay intact in case the former has compatibility and functional issues.
