To keep in view, this isn’t for the first time that Zomato usernames and passwords have been stolen. On Thursday, it has been reported by various media that 17 million user records had been hacked from the database that had email addresses and hashed passwords.
Internal security breach seemingly like the reason behind the hack but to be clearer on this matter, it’s being said that one of the employees’ account have been compromised.
As a precautionary measure, Zomato has reset all stolen users’ passwords and logged them out. Their team is actively looking into the breach vectors and finding out any gaps.
Good news is, passwords cannot be converted into the plain text so the user security is intact in case user using the same password for seeking any service. But team at Zomato encouraging users to change their passwords they were using previously.
In the upcoming weeks, security measures would be strengthened to cover database where user information is being stored.
