Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC Top-End Mobile Processor Unveiled

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 845 SoC at its 2nd annual Snapdragon Technology Summit held in Hawaii. The Snapdragon 845 SoC is the Qualcomm’s latest high-end mobile processor. This new Snapdragon 845 SoC chip is developed to power a number of next-generation Android flagship devices that will launch in 2018. The Xiaomi is the initial one to declare a smartphone Xiaomi Mi 7 with this new processor, although companies like Samsung and LG can be likely to use the processor in their flagship devices coming year. The Windows 10 notebooks based on ARM architecture are expected to be based on the new chip as well.

The General Manager and Senior Vice President of Mobile for Qualcomm Technologies, Alex Katouzian mentioned at the annual event that Snapdragon 845 SoC would be the heritor to the Snapdragon 835 that was revealed at CES 2017 in the month of January. The chip will come with the new X20 LTE modem that provides gigabit connectivity on the supported networks. Moreover, it will be designed in collaboration with Samsung Foundry.
