Huawei has recently released its Global Connectivity Index, GCI, for the year 2015. Fifty countries are selected for this research. The development, growth and planning in communication and information technology were analyzed for each country. The GCI has been determined on the basis of connectivity, ICT usage, and digital transformation.

This version of the index gives greater weightage to connectivity, which incorporates computing, networking, as well as other foundations of the digital economy, such as e-commerce and demand. The GCI study findings show that country connectivity correlates strongly with GDP. Huawei’s analysis marks that with increase in 20 GCI percentage point the GDP per capital increases by 1 percent. Therefore, a higher GCI score would therefore suggests a higher per capita GDP.

The developing economies with turbulent systems are referred as Beginners. The categorization was done on the basis of investment in demand and usage in experience.

Pakistan stands 50th and categorized as beginner in GCI. Huawei recommendation for beginners is that they should invest more in datacenter, relevant ICT and telecom areas.
