The Honor 5X was initially designed for US market as per showcased in CES 2016. It is the firm first phone for US market.  It was also rolled out to European markets and Britain later on. The Honor 5X is another decent inclusion to Huawei mid-range offering at very affordable price. It comes with design language that follows the pattern of Huawei Honor 7 last year. The back side is all-metal while top and front are plastic. The camera bulges a little out with fingerprint scanner below it, with ports and buttons on the same position as before.

A small thing that Huawei Honor 5X lacks is the “smart button” which is present in Honor 7 and can be modified for doing multiple things. It has a thickness of 8.2mm and weighs 158 grams, none of which is special and unique in its own way. The Honor 5X has a display of 5.5-inch with a pixel resolution of Full HD where the pixel density is a bit lower but 401ppi is hardly poor. Instead of using a Kirin chipset, the Honor 5X runs on Snapdragon mid-range 615 for British variant and 616 for European market. It further comes with octa-core chipset with Adreno 405 GPU. It has a 2GB RAM and what could we expect at this price.

The good part is that Honor 5X has dual SIM capability, one is Micro and one is Nano. You also have an expandable storage option. The native storage is 16GB which can be expandable via microSD up to 128GB. In the imaging department, Honor 5X is quite close to Honor 6 with 13MP rear unit with dual-tone flash. There is no OIS and with aperture of f/2.0 you cannot have best low light performance. At the front is a pretty average 5Mp camera with a 22mm lens and f/2.4 aperture. Both camera have app and filters that can produce better results for you and can make your photos more desirable.

The fingerprint scanner mentioned earlier is quite responsive. But Honor 5X does not come with all the luxuries you want. It doesn’t have 11ac Wi-Fi, NFC, wireless charging or an infrared, are available on the Honor 7 so you might want to consider that if you can’t do without these specs. The device is powered by 3000mAh battery that will keep up the life as long as you want to play with your phone. It is driven by Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-loaded with Emotion UI 3.1 on top.

If you are interested in low-cost amazing purchase, 5X is good to go for.
