More than 3 years after the introduction of Windows Phone 8.1 update, Microsoft has decided to kill off this support. This will lead to the end of the Windows Phone era, although still millions of devices have been running this OS.

End of an Era – Windows Phone to Die Today

According to AdDuplex, more than 80% of Windows Phones have been running the Windows support 7, 8 and 8.1. However, the company has now decided to put an end to the provision of this support, as these mobile devices will now remain unsupported.

About three years ago, Windows Phone 8.1 was widely regarded as the biggest update released by the company. However, amid the increasingly declining popularity of this OS made the company decided to stop this support.
