China announced that it would be developing its own encyclopedia which would be in Chinese language. Many websites are banned in China.  This new Chinese encyclopedia will have 300,000 new entries and 100,000 words per entry.Mr Yang Muzhi who is the editor in chief and chairman of the Book and periodicals distribution association of China said that the Chinese encyclopedia will be a wall of culture and not like a normal encyclopedia book. He further said that it will guide the public and we are not competing Wikipedia.  According to the China Morning Post around 20,00 researchers from China are working for this Chinese encyclopedia.

China will introduce its own Wikipedia.

The Chinese Government is not in favor of many leaders around the world, one if the example is Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama is banned to enter China. Wikipedia is not only blocked in China. It is also blocked in Turkey because the Wikipedia did not remove the content which was vilifying the government honor. China has also blocked Facebook and Twitter

It has also been heard that Russia is developing its own Wikipedia.
