Google has taken a big step by introducing a complete Android operating system – ‘Android Automotive’ – into the Audi and Volvo upcoming ‘next generation’ car models. The partnerships with both of the companies have being announced by Google just few days back. Google is licensing the OS same like it does for the smartphones OEMs. Primary advantage of getting the operating system is deeper integration and full Google Assistant.

I/O developer’s conference is happening this week that would take an insight into the branded infotainment systems which are using Android 7.0 Nougat by Google.

In the automotive market, Google only take is Android Auto right now, which isn’t any operating system and a ‘casted’ interface that can run on a smartphone by using the in-dash display of a car just as an external touchscreen monitor. On the contrary, the new ‘Android Automotive’ is a complete operating system which runs directly via onboard car computers.
