Amazon move into the Gulf e-commerce market after acquiring the leading commerce leader Souq.com, spurted major growth, or at least it’s expected. CBRE, a property advisor, research shared the stats that online shopping by the customers has increased in the last decade and it will continue to evolve.

Reasons cited in the research are young, dynamic population, highest global per capita penetration level of internet and potential of online spending on rise.

CBRE reports termed Dubai at number 3rd internationally for new market entrants, out of 59 new brands of 2016, 32 are specialist retailers and brands being launched are: Jordan, GapFit, Under Armour, New Balance and more.

For the 6th consecutive year, Dubai kept its 2nd place for representation as the international retailer; only behind from London which occupied the 1st position. The retail sector was resilient in 2016 with many new malls offering new capacity and major retail hubs occupancy levels.
