YouTube has published in a blogpost that its video service is now 97% encrypted. The company said that some devices are not compatible with modern HTTPs system, due to which 100 % encrypted service is impossible.

This is why it is uncertain to see when YouTube will achieve 100% encryption. In 2014, YouTube was 77% encrypted.

YouTube introduced HTTPS support 2 years back. Afterwards, due to increasing traffic secure service became challenge.

HTTPS is very important especially for video streaming. It protect users from hacker’s attack and installing malware in insecure connection.
