Sony’s troubles have just become grave. The Xperia Z4 launched on June 10 in Japan has slipped out of top 5 best-selling smartphones in the region. Moreover, the Xperia Z3+ (the global name of Z4) has also been found under-performing in terms of selling Worldwide.

The NTT docomo and au by KDDI variants of the handset, which debuted at the number 1 and 2 spots, have also gone down to number 7 and 8, respectively. The top 5 spots are occupied by Apple’s iPhones. Xperia Z3 Compact, however, managed to get 6th place.

The results do not come as surprise to market analyst, given that almost after the launch and release of Z4, customers were complaining overheating issues.  Its Global variant, the Xperia Z3+, is also plagued with similar issues. Meanwhile, Sony has promised that it will release an update to fix the problem sometime this summer.
