Smartphone usage drives up accidents which soars insurance rates: Study Stays.

We have already seen why Smartphones are menace. They keep people busy, they keep people engaged, to the extent, and they lose sense of safety on roads. We have seen many accidents happening due to increased usage of smartphone including texting and listening to call while on road. This has increased traffic accidents as well as soared insurance rates.

According to a survey conducted in US by U.S. auto-insurer State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., has found that 36% of drivers using mobile on roads has admitted that in 2015 that they were texting. Also 29% said that they were browsing on web while driving, which is alarming increase over the previous figures. In proportion to this, the number of Stat farm survey participants has also increased– from 52% in 2011, to 88% in 2015.

This highlights the number of drivers that get distracted while on road by mobile phone and well-explains, why these accidents happen, at the same time the insurance company says, this could be more grave and broader then experienced as a lot of drivers remain silent on their usage of smartphone behind-the-wheel.

Meanwhile, they also pointed out other factors that are important. These include reducing gas price and recovering US economy, which is putting drivers back on roads on daily basis, leading to increased accidents on roads.
