India like other emerging economies does not give enough space to high-end devices rather is more inclined towards feature phones or entry level smartphones. An average Indian buys a smartphone costing not more than $100. That is why the new affordable technology providers are enjoying great success in the market. There are 280 different brands in India and it is hard to keep up the prices high amidst the ever increasing trend of cheaper than the cheapest technology available. Trizen is one such effort to enter this sea of Android providing better low-end race, now we have to see how much space it wins for itself. However analysts in the region said it takes more than a low price to take over this monarch from Android. IDC analyst Karan Thakkar said, “It’s not always about the cheapest, customers are looking for specs … There are already a plethora of devices running on Android that Indian customers can choose from.” Further Samsung says “Tizen powered phones offer a simple UI, faster loading of web pages, and a long battery life”.

Samsung says you can use 1000 apps on Tizen platform but what about million apps already residing in Google Play Store. This is a huge difference. Moreover, according to one customer the 3.15 MP camera is like something from 2010. Even then Samsung other products like TV and watches based on Tizen are great hope for the company to attract the attention of apps developers.

Up till now Z1 is hard sell in India because customers can get much better specs in same price. Whereas, cutting price can never be a solution for company itself as the manufacturing hurdles lately raised the costs along with which might shrink margins to an unacceptable range?
