Rumor: PTA lifts Ban on Youtube in Pakistan

Those using PTCL and some other private operators have recently witnessed unblocking of the website by PTA. The users have reported that the website is opening without Https//: in their URL which was an alternative for those who still want to access the blocked website. Some users from different operators are reporting that the YouTube is on and off accessible on their network. However, there is no lifting of ban till heard by the Supreme Court. Is it solely the decision of PTA or YouTube is too Strong alone to push our institutions let it in anytime. However, many a questions are yet to be answered.

Currently different IPs are reporting that YouTube is opening on their address. Moreover different Youtube URLs are now accessible on the internet. With this we can hope that YouTube is back in Pakistan. However, we are still not sure, if the content is removed or it is the hard core fan following and petitions of many organization to ban only the blasphemous URLs and do not block it out completely. However PTA comments on this:

“PTA has tried to find a technical solution to block the video while keeping YouTube open, but it is next to impossible. The only thing that PTA can do is to create a warning page that opens prior to the video.”

While the YouTube running like this we think it is very appropriate to place warnings against such content.
