Mi A1 was launched by Xiaomi under the Android One program by Google. The phone came with Android Nougat, but it was also promised that the phone will get Oreo update by the end of 2017. This update emerged on the last day of 2017, but due to extensive complaints from users about battery drains and unresponsive apps, Xiaomi got away from its original plan.

The company also admitted itself that there were some performance issues, due to which it has stopped the update. According to the president of Xiaomi India, Android 8.0 Oreo rollout will resume in the next couple of weeks.

Some of the performance issues that were reported by the users in case of Mi A1 were in dialer app, recents app, camera app, and the ambient light sensor. Moreover, the swipe on the fingerprint sensor gesture also appeared not to work properly, where as the battery also drained quite massively especially when the Bluetooth was turned on.
