OSFP will now hold an “Open Source Summit” in Pakistan

OSFP, Open Source Foundation Pakistan, has announced an IT based Open Source Summit in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) ,NADRA and Iqra University Islamabad.

The conference aims at initiating new Open Source Projects in Pakistan by bringing technology experts, government officials and students together. The Iqra University and OSPF has also signed a memorandum in this regard to re-confirm this promising effort and fulfillment of common goal to aware people of Open Source Technologies.

This partnership aims at telling the youth that how important it is bring Open Source Technology into the market and how necessary it is to now get rid of Licensed and patented software that limits the growth of other developers’ potential and mind flight. For this reason, a mega event will be held to let anyone spread awareness towards Open Source Development.

This will be a two day event and is going to take place on 19th and 20th September 2015 at Iqra University Islamabad. This event includes various workshops on various aspects of computer science like Matlab, Mobile Application Development, Cloud Computing etc. This Summit is first of its own kind in Pakistan that will generate opportunities for businesses in IT.

The signing ceremony was attended by eminent technology evangelists and executive council members of Open Source Foundation of Pakistan  Mr. Saleem Rafeeq – Director General Operations NADRA, Mr. Asim Hussain MD Pakistan Software Export Board, Mr. Tahir Mehmood Chaudhary President Computing Society Of Pakistan ,Mr. Jahanzeb Arshad Vice President Operations Nayatel  Ltd. founder OSFP Babar Zahoor, Gen. Sec Qasim Mehmood, VP Media Asim Nawaz Abbasi, Hassan Shabbir Rana,  Dr. Muhammad Islam Dean Iqra University and Miss Tooba Nasir Assistant Professor.
