This is the same strategy Nokia deployed for introducing N1 tablets in the market. Now the Finns will manufacture the smartphones and Nokia will only technically sell them. The task will be performed by “suitable partners” and many will be interested as Nokia has Brand Recognition that nobody can deny. Foxconn, which is the licensee for the N1 tablet, could be one interested party.

One hindrance, Nokia cannot make such deals before the second of next year due to it terms and conditions decided on the sale of mobile division to Microsoft. Since The N1 runs android, we expect the smartphones to follow the same route. However, Microsoft, has not been able to grab significant share after acquiring Nokia, may be Nokia’s current re-entrance will help it to grab enough space from the market even without any production capacity of its own.
