Mobile phone imports in Pakistan reached US $ 433.276 million during 2015-2016 which is a bumpy 10.39% increase when compared to the same timeframe last year.Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) unleashed that imports were US $ 392.493 million last year. The period is from July-January. However, telecom experienced a downfall of 5.5 percent during July-January (2015-16) in comparison to the same period last year.

Further the telecom apparatus witnessed the drop of 19.23 percent during this period. Meanwhile, the telecom experts believe that there will be 55% increase in mobile phone import. This is due to the anticipated increase in 3G and 4G users.

The unlimited use of data bundles in apps and various websites have triggered the use of smartphones. Moreover, the telecom operators are also inclined towards accelerating the mobile usage.

As per International Data Corporation (IDC), Pakistan has been observed the fastest developing market for mobile phone penetration in 2015. With 123 per cent growth from Q-1 2014 and Q-1 2015, it’s been expanding like a giant snow ball rolling down the hill.

The government has also promised that this trend will increase under the facilitation of government for more foreign investment in Telecom sector.
