Islamabad High court has stopped police from harassing Careem

The Islamabad high court has controlled the police and Islamabad administration in locking the Careem service for employees and visitors, harassing them and seizing the vehicles of the employees and visitors

The Justice Athar Minallah have made the committee under the Islamabad chief commissioner and taking one member each from Islamabad police, Islamabad traffic police, Islamabad Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and Careem.Islamabad High court has stopped police from harassing Careem

Careem was questioned for illegal operations

Justice Minallah also told that a report should be submitted after taking proposals from Careem to reach the conclusion on how to regulate this service

The court said that the the Provincial motor vehicle ordinance, 1965 does not explain anything on how to regulate these type of companies because mobile phone was not present in 1965.

Omer Zabit “Careem Networks Pakistan” General manager has made has made the interior secretary, the Islamabad RTA secretary, the Islamabad chief commissioner, and the Karachi Company SHO respondents in the case.

He said that the company started operations in Pakistan in October 2015 and it is not a normal taxi and rent a car service

Sattar said “Neither does the petitioner own or lease cars nor does it employ drivers”.

He also said that the company is a running a software which helps passengers and drivers to connect with each other”

Sattar also said that the interior minister issued instructions to shut the Careem office and the RTA and SHO carried out the orders through the exercise of authority and without due process.
