Apple unveiled today the much awaited iOS; iOS 9. The major improvements also came with enhanced security for the user but let’s see first what improvements are offered by iOS 9. iOS 9 will go into public beta next month and will be available as a free update this fall.

Siri will be the new improved version called the Siri proactive where the OS will learn and provide you later even without you asking to do that. Siri will keep track of time, your location and connected devices. You can have a different list in music store for jogging and can have different audiobook while driving car without asking Siri to do it. Siri will learn the context and act accordingly. It can be your digital assistant while keeping a track of email and note invitation popping up when you need it. Siri can also help you as Scanner ID, which scans the email of person calling you making it possible to reach you if the number appears to be unknown.

In Multi-tasking Apple app switcher is now replaced with 3D cards but bigger as compared to Android Lollipop. The split-screen multi-tasking can only be done with iPads only. Slider helps you to stay on application for quick interaction. The more advance feature is split-view. The slider grey out the main application while the split-view allows working on two apps side by side. You can also switch between apps by changing the split ratio and tapping the links, the relevant app will pop up, also in Split View.

Apple has specifically updated maps for public transit. Any nearby location can be searched with single tap. Even the underground is not hidden from this App. The Transit support will launch in a number of US countries, along with London, Toronto, Mexico city, plus a whole lot of Chinese cities.

Apple is bringing an updated Keyboard which it calls QuickType. It now shows shortcuts for common actions like cut/copy/paste. The keyboard also doubles as a trackpad, you can use two fingers to move the cursor and select text like you would on a laptop without even reaching to the text box.

News is also kept relevant learning you interests and reading habits, Siri will help offering a curated list of news sources in a constant news stream called “For you”. News will launch in the US, the UK and Australia at first.

Apple’s automotive interface will set you free from wires and will show up on supported cars even while your phone is in your pocket. It will run apps from car makers for a deeper integration and control of your exact model.

And with many other misc. features to talk about, iOS 9 will go into public beta next month, an iOS first, and it will become available as an OTA this fall to all devices that currently run iOS 8, even the older ones.
