India is the culprit to create Smog in Lahore

Pakistan metrological department fails to determine the cause of Smog in Lahore. Thousands of Pakistani have been affected by this. According to doctors, this will create lungs diseases and it is being advised to wear mask.

NASA has disclosed this information that Indian has burnt the crops at large scale in Indian Punjab. Even Dehli has also got affected.  Smog effect is also being experienced at Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, etc. Mostly people has reported they are feeling pinching in eyes.

NASA Declares India as Culprit

According to the provided satellite image by NASA, it clearly indicates that the source of the crop burning areas to be from India. Take a look at their recently released satellite image:

The places marked in red on the map are the locations which are part of crop burning. As you can see, majority of crop burning originates from Indian Punjab

According to New York Times, the farmers in those areas burn the left over straw instead of getting rid of it through other means. The left over straw is as much as 32 million tonnes, which would explain the cause of the smog. The farmers say that they cannot afford to buy expensive equipment to clear the land so they resort to burning it instead.

A farmer said that one of the most widely available brand of seeders, which does not require crop burning, costs around $1,900. They can’t afford to buy them even if the government agrees to pay half of the cost.

There is another opinion, Indian did this thing at the same scale last year, but there was no smog last year. It may be due to climate change and global warming issue in the region.

Experts said that all these crop burnings in India are ultimately causing the smog in Pakistan, particularly in Lahore and vicinity.

Pakistani MET department said that rain is the only cure for the smog, which is not forecasted for some days at least. This smog in Lahore has already caused counts of allergies, including eye burning and breathing issues.

Pakistan Met Department said that smog in Pakistan could persist for days.

Pakistani media was also remain silent on this issue due to lack of information and knowledge.  Many smartphones users were trying to find the reasons through their mobile phones via weather apps, news site but fail to get any instant answer.  It is also pertinent that on last Friday, we did not hear any news about rain to overcome this weather condition.
