IDC 1st Quarter Report: Android’s Market Share 85% and Windows Phone’s Meager 0.1% Share

The race between mega mobile operating systems is officially settled now. There are only two main contenders left, whereas the remaining ones have been defeated.

The first quarter report released by IDC shows that Android has the total market share of 85% where as iOS shares the remaining 14.7%. On the other hand, the other operating systems in which most important one is Windows Phone, have only 0.1% share, which easily kicks them out of the race.

The two-horse race now sees Android and iOS facing off each other. The first quarter shows Android as clear winner. However, by the end of third quarter, we will see the numbers improved quite strongly for the case of iOS since the new flagship product of Apple, i.e. iPhone 8 will have been released and more people will be getting interested towards the new iOS 11 coming with the new phone.

Sad news for Windows Phone to have died out too early.
