Industry sources have revealed that orders of chipsets for entry level 4G and 3G smartphones are dropping drastically in emerging markets. It is due to the rising dollar exchange rate which has led to more expensive low-tier handsets for consumers, that has contributed to the declining demand.
Also according to source, companies are looking forward to sell their entry level offering now at higher price to raise profit margins. Analyst also expect to see more footfall on entry level handsets. Also these companies are now looking to shift to more profitable phones like reasonably priced mid-tier or high-end.
